These delicious sourdough starter pizza bases are both delicious and simple to prepare. There is no waiting around (which is why I have called them ‘sourdough starter…’ as opposed to proper ‘sourdough’, where the whole batch of dough is fermented and left to rise before baking) as you make and bake them straight away.
We also whipped up a batch of ‘tomato-less’ pizza sauce which I will post a recipe for separately.
Gluten, dairy, refined sugar, soy and egg free.
Makes 2 (or 3 small) bases.
1 cup gluten free sourdough starter
1 cup almond meal
1 tsp salt
2 Tbs olive oil
1 Tbs brown rice flour if required
Extra olive oil
Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
1. Combine ingredients (only adding brown rice flour if required to make a firm dough), then knead until smooth and shape into 2 or 3 balls.
2. Press the balls out flat onto baking paper using your fingers or a rolling pin.
3. Brush the edges lightly with olive oil and bake for approximately 8 minutes or until edges are staring to slightly brown.
4. Top with your favourite pizza toppings and cook for a further 3 – 4 minutes / until toppings are warm.
